Women Weaving Stories

A series of panel discussions in which women who make a contribution to the wellbeing and positive lives of women in Sandgate and surrounding suburbs discuss some aspects of their life journey. A celebration of women’s lives and the diverse choices, challenges and successes that shape us – discussions to foster connections in our community.

An opportunity to meet two artists from Redcliffe who’s reason to be is creating ART!

Donna Hawkins is an award-winning visual artist, forced into early retirement due to ill health in twenty years ago. Despite suffering cancer and multiple incurable diseases, Donna found refuge and healing in pursuing her passion for making art; in fact, she would say, ART saved her life. Donna believes everyone has an artist within, and that expressing your creativity can transform your life.

Marilyn Cass had many jobs over the years, the ones she loved most involved books and art. She worked as a relationship counsellor and pre-marriage educator – and currently works in the Leisure and Lifestyle team in Residential Care, a very challenging and rewarding position, where she has a positive impact on residents through leisure activities, including artistic ones. Through this Marilyn fulfils her passion for empowering others, particularly through ART.

Facilitator of this session is Womenspace member Jan Hughes an educator, teacher, traveller, an online coach, who helps people to forge their way into the future.
