Women Weaving Stories

September 8, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

You are invited to Women Weaving Stories at 6pm for 6.30 start on Friday, 8th September.

The question ‘What does reconciliation mean to me?’ will be responded to by Jessy Renouf.

We are very glad that Jessy accepted our invitation – she is a proud Gubbi Gubbi, Finnish young woman from Northside Brisbane, Queensland.

What a rich material to weave from:

For most of her life, Jessy has lived in Bracken Ridge, attending Sandgate District State High School. She is currently in her 4th year studying a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) and a Bachelor of Justice (majoring in Policy and Politics). She works a number of jobs including as a receptionist at a psychology clinic and being a QUT student ambassador for the Oodgeroo Unit (Indigenous Student Success Program) and Equity for Widening Participation (outreach and engagement program). Jessy is extremely passionate about First Nations issues, mental health and starting conversations. In 2022, Jessy had the opportunity to do a TEDx talk with QUT around her cultural heritage and sharing her story as a proud Aboriginal woman in contemporary Australia. In the future, Jessy hopes to do many things, possibly become a clinical psychologist, do research around critical race theory and racial trauma and continue to advocate for issues that she is passionate about.

11 Second Ave, Sandgate.

6pm for 6.30pm start.

Please rsvp by SMS to 0434 357 862.
