21st February at 6.00pm for 6.30start
The facilitator of the evening, Dr Ann Ingamells will talk to Sara Cooks.
Introducing Sara:
“When I turned 18, I had a solid life plan mapped out that involved being a vet/artist, travelling the world with a fine husband, 6 blond kids and a well-behaved dog…What a boring story that would have been!
What happened instead was the wild Irish activism of my mother and gentle curiosity of my father paved the way for a sometimes meandering, sometimes roller coastering life. A life that now brings me right here.
If you google me, you get “Seasoned professional. Solution focused. Environment, Risk, Project Management and Strategy”. I’ve had many jobs from volunteer in Borneo to environmental engineer in a coal mine.
If you are my neighbour, you see the crazy woman covered in dirt moving rocks about, talking about fungus and clear felling weeds.
I married a man at 25 and a woman at 50. I had 2 half Indonesian Dayak kids, and my dog is 5 and still can’t walk on a lead. I learned early to be active in your life, have courage to speak when it is right to do so. Listen to what is spoken and observe what is not.
As I’m now apparently olde and wiser I do more of the latter and am embracing the extraordinary gifts that come as an older woman.”
Yes, come and spread the word, it will be a great eve!
