Stories of the Moon, Love and Mystery

A Full Moon Concert with

 

Anne E Stewart, an acclaimed storyteller with an international reputation. A versatile performer Anne has the energy and voice to engage any audience. Her focus is on the shared stories of Australia honouring Indigenous Celtic, Asian and World stories. Anne has told stories in some of Australia’s major cultural institutions, art galleries and libraries and been an invited guest at Storytelling festivals throughout Australia, Iran, the UK and in Mexico, Colombia, and East Timor. She has researched, written and produced stories for ABC radio and appeared on several television programs including the groundbreaking children’s program Lift Off. Anne also produces digital audio-visual works to tell community stories, including the 4017 Flood Stories for Sandbag Community Centre

 

Bettina Nissen, a storyteller for over forty years working in the field of Early Literacy in libraries, schools and community organisations. Her training is in Librarianship and Social Sciences. As a Storyteller, Bettina loves to tell old folk and fairy tales from her Western European heritage. She plays with rhymes and songs and stories to bring these tales alive in a contemporary setting. For many years Bettina took these stories and rhymes to community arts projects in playgrounds, detention centres, Neighbourhood Houses and respite care centres. Currently Bettina coordinates Paint Dbay REaD, a volunteer led early literacy project, in Deception Bay, Queensland. She is an active member of the Australian Fairy Tale Society and Ring Maiden with the Brisbane Fairy Tale Ring.

 

Jenni Cargill-Strong, a nationally recognised storyteller and educator with thirty years’ experience. She tells her stories eye to eye and heart to heart, engaging listeners with her warm, welcoming, and expressive style. Jenni toured schools in Australia and New Zealand for seven years, has five award-winning story albums and is a part-time academic in the Storylines unit at Southern Cross University. She has been an invited teller and workshop leader at online storytelling gatherings and conferences in the US and teaches storytelling for educators, change-makers and healers. www.storytree.com.au

 

Deborah Lilly enjoys performing poetry.  Here she is at Muddy River annual competition held by Logan Performing Bush Poets where she gained two second places a few weeks ago.  Deborah also performed at The Ekka Bush Poetry Competition earlier this year.

For the evening of Moon, Love and Mystery, Deborah will be performing a Christina Rosetti poem A Birthday (1861) and a modern feminist take on Little Red Cap (1999) by Carol Ann Duffy, the recent British Poet Laureate.
