It gives us a great pleasure to invite you to celebrate the
25th Anniversary of Womenspace
Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September 2022
Saturday
2pm – Welcome and Opening of our Installation of Womenspace Herstory, followed by afternoon tea with members of our Book Clubs and readings from their favourite books.
Your opportunity to add to the installation. Please bring a photo, story, object – a memento of your memorable experience with Womenspace to add to the Installation.
Paint another seed-pod to start a new – 25th Anniversary Spiral.
4.30pm – Conclusion of the afternoon with viewing “Backstage’ short film, created recently at Womenspace by the Young Women Project.
An opportunity to start filming new footage for future documentation of Womenspace.
Sunday
10am call for 10.30 start
After the Welcome, to begin our celebrations, we invite you to enjoy an authentically brewed chai, prepared by a Womenspace member Reema, an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Practitioner and a Yoga Teacher.
Reema will arrive early with whole spices and fresh ginger to start the pot boiling so when we walk in we will be greeted by the warming and inviting aromas of spices. She will also share some of her chai stories, coming from a tradition where the keepers of stories of spices and all things yummy are the women. Reema’s Grandma, Nani, has taught her many things about spices and food, some of them to be shared with us. Looking forward to it!
Expect the unexpected from the members of Womenspace Writers Group – Nisse Bettina confirmed the arrival of a Donsy of Gnomes around 11am to follow on the Chai stories.
By noon this circle of writers that shares a love of words will spiral into a soundscape under the wand of Ann Bermingham – there will be an opportunity to join in with a song.
Food sharing, exploration and stories exchange inspired by the presentations and the Installation to follow – further chances to add a photo, story, object – a memento of your memorable experience with Womenspace to continue.
2pm – Address by Amanda Jackes, General Manager of the Woodford Festival, Sandgate local; followed by unveiling of the Spiral Mural.
4pm – Conclusion
The Installation will stay open on Monday 10am – 2pm for those who couldn’t come over the weekend.
